D.C. United scored their first victory of the young season over the Houston Dynamo, 1-0. Luciano Emilio scored the games lone goal in the 47 minute of play, lobbing the ball over Houston’s goalie Pat Onstad.

“It’s good to be tested early and to come away with three points. It shows that we got some men out there and we stepped up in a difficult situation against a good team,” said Ben Olsen. “They’re still Houston, they still have a lot of weapons. To fight like that as a team and get out with three points is a great first win for us. There are still things we can work on, I think the soccer at times, is not the greatest, but defensively some of the stuff we’ve emphasized was pretty good.”

Busy Day For OffWing Photographers

Saturday was a busy day for the OffWing photographers. Kate McGovern was covering the exciting the story of the Capitals getting into the playoffs by the hair of their chinnie (not sure of the spelling on this), chin chin. Don’t get me wrong with that characterization, the Washington Caps have been playing great.

DC United Explode Beating Toronto FC, 4-1

For the first 40 minutes of play there wasn’t much to cheer about as Toronto FC led 1-0. That all changed after Marc Burch (4) scored his first major league goal to tie the game. The others that scored were Fred, Jaime Moreno, Luciano Emilio. The win keeps the United four points ahead in their play-off chase.
Today’s game was a night game so I was struggling as many of you do with the delicate dance between ISO, shutter speed, and aperature. I shoot primarily with a Nikon D200 and have recently been playing around with the auto ISO and noise reduction settings in camera after a suggestion of a friend that shoots a lot of low-light stuff.
I had used the auto ISO settings a while back in my D70 but it just wasn’t satisfactory. The D200 however handles higher ISO settings so much better.

The crowd was rocking, as usual, espcially the la Barra Brava a highly organized fan club of the DC United. I really like the following shot. One of my favorite things to shoot is filterd light, in this shot you have the stadium lights streaming through the waving flag.
